The 5th Asian Student Council Symposium 2026
The annual Asian Student Council Symposium returns this year with their 5th edition (ASCS2026) to the Asia and Pacific region. Organised by the ISCB Student Council and its Regional Student Groups, ASCS2026 attracts undergraduate, graduate, and early career researchers in bioinformatics, computational biology, and related fields across a global network to bring together emerging scientists to share research, exchange ideas, foster collaborations, and engage with the international community.

This symposium serves as a platform for young researchers to showcase their research to the global audience. Participants benefit from the opportunity to present their work, receive valuable feedback from peers and experts, expand their professional networks, and gain insights into the latest developments in computational biology and bioinformatics. Through keynote lectures, student presentations, and interactive panel discussions, ASCS2026 aims to foster scientific exchange and inspire innovation.
ASCS2026 precedes the BIOINFO/GIW ISCB-Asia 2026. Details regarding registration will be released soon.

Detailed Guidelines and Abstract Submission
Abstract Submission Guidelines
ASCS2026 is awaiting to accept abstract submissions that broadly align with the bioinformatics and computational biology domains. We welcome research currently in progress as well as studies published in the past 18 months for either oral or poster presentations. Submissions that were previously submitted to or accepted by the main GIW conference are eligible for consideration.
Submission Categories:
Submission for talks (Talk Only or Talk or Poster) requires mandatory extended abstracts.
Talks submission lacking an extended abstract will be rejected.
Talk Only
Talk or Poster
Poster Only
Scope of Submissions:
Your work should broadly align with the domains of bioinformatics and computational biology. You will be prompted to select one category that most fits your work during the submission.
- (AI-Driven) Structural Biology and Molecular Design
- Network Biology and Systems Biology
- Multi-omics Integration and Foundation Models
- Evolutionary Genomics and Pan-genomics
- Algorithms for Computational Biology
- Synthetic and Engineering Biology
- General Computational Biology and Bioinformatics
Evaluation Criteria:
Submissions will be evaluated on:
- Clarity
- Originality/uniqueness
- Completeness of study
- Potential impact in the field
- Scientific relevance to computational biology / bioinformatics
- Responsible AI use
Abstract Title and Structure:
Please keep the title concise while accurately reflecting your research. Short abstract must not exceed 200 words and should describe followings in a free format text. A long abstract should not exceed 2 pages including figures and references.
- Background – context and purpose of the study
- Methodology – brief outline of the approach used
- Results – key findings
- Conclusions – summary and potential implications
Presentation Rule:
- One person may deliver only one presentation (co-authorship on other abstracts is allowed).
- Presentation is individual - having co-authors is fine, but only the presenting author will receive the presentation/award certificate. All authors’ names will be included in the abstract book.
- The presenting author must be part of the original research work.
Formatting:
Avoid using abbreviations, references, or figures in the abstract text.
Important*
All abstracts must be submitted through the ISCB submission system by clicking on the Submit Abstract button below. Incomplete or non-compliant submissions will not be considered.
