“ISCB Student Council is more than a group of students, is a group of people working together on the same objective: training, dissemination and networking. Since I’ve been involved in the SC, I’ve known incredible people who became friends during this time, and made a really good scientific relationships inside the ISCB. As my role of symposium coordinator, I am in charge to supervise symposium’s organization and try to make them as smooth as possible.”
Alexander is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the BiocomputingUP group headed by Prof. Silvio Tosatto, at the University of Padova in Italy. His research is focused on intrinsically disordered proteins and protein conformation dynamics. He has been applying computational methods and developing resources to explore protein conformational diversity and disorder. Alexander obtained his PhD at the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes in Buenos Aires (Argentina) by the supervision of Prof. Gustavo Parisi.
Since 2012, he has been participating in the Student Council. He was a former member of the RSG Argentina which became one of the biggest and most active RSGs in LA. In 2016, Alexander was elected Vice Chair of the LA region, helping to develop the LA RSGs community. Furthermore, he integrated different symposium committees during these years: LA-SCS 2016 (chair), 2SAJIB (chair), SCS-2017 (web-chair) and SCS-2018 (web-chair). In addition, he is a member of the Argentinian Society of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (A2B2C), acting as web-chair of society and participating in the organization of the annual Argentinian Bioinformatics Conferences. Since 2018, Alexander became part of the SC Executive committee, acting as symposium coordinator.
