In commemoration of the malaria world day, the Bioinformatics Research Cluster of Covenant University (www.covenantuniversity.edu.ng), organized a symposium on the 25th of April, 2012. In the event, the RSG-Western Africa executives co-organized an RSG sponsored bioinformatics/biological science quiz competition for final year students. The performance of the students was exceptional. Marion Adebiyi was the judge and moderator, Olugbenga Oluwagbemi (Webmaster, RSG-Western African)was the point scorer and the position announcer, while Onyeka Emebo was the time-keeper. At the end of the event, two teams scored the same points (tied); additional questions were prepared and presented to the two teams, and finally a winner emerged. Based on a grant proposal submitted to the ISCB Student Council by Marion Adebiyi (President, RSG-Western Africa), which was successful. Cash prizes were presented to the winners on behalf of the ISCB-SC (International Society for Computational Biology-Student Council).
